FOX TAKES DREAMWORKS' 'KODACHROME' AWAY

Hey, even in Hollywood, a deal's a deal. 20th Century Fox has reclaimed a Sean Levy ("Real Steel") pitch back from DreamWorks after finding out that the director -- who has a first-look deal with Fox -- shopped it to the rival studio without their knowledge, Variety's Josh Dickey (@Variety_JLD) exclusively reports. Turns out it was an honest mistake: Levy's production company 21 Laps and co-producer the Gotham Group initially br Kodachrome ought the pitch to Fox 2000, a subdivision of Big Fox, which passed. Believing that was due diligence under Levy's Fox pact, they next went to DreamWorks, which bought it. But 20th Century Fox caught wind of the deal, decided it really liked the project and yanked it back onto its development slate, where it stands today. The film will be fashioned as a road trip pic, following a father and son's race across the country as they try to reach the Kansas lab before it closes forever.Read Full Article
