Joaquin Phoenix has stayed under the radar since his "retirement," which turned out to be nothing more than fodder for the vanity prjoect “I’m Still Here." Now Variety's Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) exclusively reports that the mercurial actor is in early talks to join Philip Seymour Hoffman in Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled religious drama with a Scientology bent. Anderson is directing from his own original script; Hoffman will play a charismatic leader, and Phoenix would play alcholic drifter who becomes his right-hand man who comes to doubt him.
