'WAR HORSE' STAR JEREMY IRVINE MEETS 'GREAT EXPECTATIONS'
Steven Spielberg has a knack for plucking young actors from total obscurity, and he did it again wiht British actor Jeremy Irvine, who stars in the upcoming epic "War Horse." Now the newcomer is in negotiations to play the lead character of Pip in "Prince of Persia" director Mike Newell's adaptation of the classic Dickens novel “Great Expectations,” Variety's Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) exclusively reports. Helena Bonham Carter is also in talks to play Miss Havisham. Production is expected to start this fall, and the pic is slated for a 2012 release as part of a year-round celebration of Dickens’ bicentenary.
