Hi-Yo, Armie Hammer! Away!

ArmieWhen Johnny Depp was first cast as Tonto in Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s bigscreen adaptation of “The Lone Ranger,” Armie Hammer was a relative unknown in Hollywood, but ready to break out as Batman in Warner Bros.’ “Justice League.” Three years later, Hammer has been handed a black mask he’ll actually get to wear, landing the titular role as the crime fighting Texas Ranger in “The Lone Ranger,” Variety's Marc Graser and Justin Kroll exclusively report. The writers' strike and creative differences eventually sunk "Justice League," but Hammer got his shot with "The Social Network." Though he made great Winkelvii, it's starting to look like Hammer is more of an action-hero type, having recently landed the role of the prince in Relativity Media’s “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White” -- and now the Lone Ranger.
