King Crowned For 'Oz' Role
Eleven-year-old actress Joey King has landed the sought-after role of China Girl in Disney's "Oz: The Great and Powerful," Variety's Jeff Sneider exclusively reports. The Sam Raimi-directed prequel to "The Wizard of Oz" stars James Franco, Rachel Weisz and -- as SHOWBLITZ first reported -- Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams. China Girl, who's made of porcelain, is taken in by Oz after her family is killed by an evil witch (Weisz). Though barely old enough to be in middle school, King comes with a resume including roles in "Battle: Los Angeles," "Quarantine," and a voice role as Katie in "Horton Hears A Who," a character that spurred a viral flurry of YouTube clips and quotable lines. King is best known, though, for playing Ramona in last year's "Ramona and Beezus." She's also nabbed a roles in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" (which SHOWBLITZ also first revealed) and the upcoming TV series "Bent," and will appear onscreen this summer in "Crazy, Stupid, Love."
