'Summer' Lovin' For Madsen and Thompson
Keenan Thompson and Virginia Madsen are in negotiations to join the cast of Rob Reiner's "Summer at Dog Dave's," a story of a wheelchair-bound writer and alcoholic, Variety's Jeff Sneider exclusively reports. Madsen is in talks for the lead female role of a single, divorced mother that will be played opposite the film's star, Morgan Freeman, a role that Annette Bening was rumored to have nabbed. Thompson is in the talks to play Freeman's nephew. Madsen has recently been seen in "Red Riding Hood" and is set to produce "The Bitch Posse," while Thompson has kept to his sketch comedy roots as a cast member of "Saturday Night Live" and can be heard as the voice of Greedy Smurf in July's "The Smurfs." Production of "Summer at Dog Dave's" is set to start this July in Greenwood Lake, N.Y.
