Frankenstein project at Fox? It's alive!
Fox is tossing its hat in the crowded Frankenstein ring, as "Chronicle" scribe Max Landis is writing on a screenplay based on the classic monster tale for the studio, Variety's Rachel Abrams exclusively reports. No director is attached -- or even a front-runner at this point -- though studio is eyeing several high-profile helmers including Paul Greengrass and David Yates ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"). Ron Howard had been circling the project, but it appears he's out, given that "The Dark Tower" is still up in the air and Tuesday's revelation that he's in early talks for Formula 1 biopic "Rush." Studio has kept the logline for its Frankenstein treatment under wraps, though with so many Frankenstein projects in early development, Landis will surely be looking for a fresh angle.
