John Goodman is negotiations to join the political thriller “Argo," the Ben Affleck-directed political thriller about the 1979 rescue of hostages from Iran by way of a Hollywood ruse, Variety's Justin Kroll exclusively reports. The movie is based on a Wired magazine article that tells the story of how the CIA and the Canadian government tricked Iranian hostage takers with the phony explanation that they were actually a film crew. Goodman would play John Chambers, the Oscar-winning “Planet of the Apes” makeup artist called in to help sell the ruse.
