SMIT-MCPHEE KEEPS THE PEACE IN 'ROMEO AND JULIET'

Kodi Smit-McPhee Kodi Smit-McPhee, the 14-year-old star of "The Road" and "Let Me In," is in early negotiations to play Benvolio in the adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet,"Variety's Jeff Sneider exclusively reports. Hailee Steinfeld and Holly Hunter are set to play Juliet and her Nurse, respectively, while Ed Westwick is onboard to play Juliet's hot-tempered cousin Tybalt, as Variety first reported. Benvolio is Romeo's cousin who unsuccessfully tries to keep the peace between Tybalt and Mercutio, who has yet to be cast. Production is scheduled to start this summer in Italy.
