Universal proposes to Carell's 'FBI Wedding' comedy

Universal Pictures is going to an FBI wedding with Steve Carell, acquiring rights to the comedy out of turnaround from Warner Bros., Variety's Dave McNary exclusively reports. The untitled project is being developed with an eye towards Carell starring. Phil Alden Robinson, whose credits include “Field of Dreams” and “The Sum of All Fears,” is attached to write. The logline hasn’t been disclosed, but it’s believed to be similar in tone to “Stakeout” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding." Carell, Charles Segers and Bob Cooper are attached to produce through their Carousel Productions, Sparkler Entertainment and Landscape Entertainment shingles, respectively. Carell will be seen next in Warner comedy “Crazy, Stupid Love,” which he’s producing through Warner-based Carousel.
