Comic-Con: 'Psych' Q and A

Comicconlogo_showbliz USA Network's "Psych" panel was the morning's big TV draw, as the folks from previous panels refused to budge, causing a mild ruckus amid the attendees over seats and space. No pencil stabbings, but a whole bunch of unhappy campers.

But the mood quickly changed as creator/scribe Steve Franks was joined by the Friendly Indians on stage for a "Psych" singalong. After a few rounds, "Psych" guest star Kurt Fuller took to the stage for a Q&A with the cast and crew. After 90 episodes, the enthusiastic crowd asked questions about their favorite show, characters and possible plotlines.

How have you seen your character Shawn change of the years?
James Roday: I thinks he's taken small, tiny steps...steps that are not visible from above. Really tiny baby steps. Not even human. Like, small vermin steps.

What is the one thing about Shawn that annoys you the most?
Dule Hill: The way he always steals my credit card.

What do you really think of Shawn?
Timothy Omundson: I don't know what I really think of Shawn. It depends on what the script says. You don't always get along with people you work with, but the guy did solve like 90 crimes. Hell of a batting average.

Do you all get along after the show?
Omundson: When you watch the show, you laugh, but we are all laughing as well. That translates to a good, damn time.

How has your relationship changed with Carlton Lassiter?
Maggie Lawson: Our relationship has grown by getting over the hump of being in a relationship. He is a partner first. At work, he is number one, but Shawn is number one in life.

What is your favorite scene?
Corbin Bersen: The "How many hats are in the room" scene from the pilot episode. Whenever I wonder where the show is going, I go back to that scene.

What guest stars do you have coming up?
Exec producer Chris Henze: Malcolm McDowell, Joey McIntyre, Krissy Swanson, Corey Feldman, Danny Glover, Brad Dourif...
Exec producer Kelly Kulchak: Wade Boggs, Anthony Anderson, Jason Priestly, Keenan Thompson...and WILLIAM SHATNER!

Will there be a musical episode?
Steve Franks: We wanted to do one this season, but realized we couldn't write a musical in three weeks. So it will be the first episode of season seven.

What's with the pineapple?
Roday: It was a re-occurring prop in the pilot that went in and out of the shot, but ended in the final cut. Then it took a life of it's own. Also, it's delicious and prickly.

How do you keep a show about death and murder lighthearted and fun?
Franks: We are a crime show, so there has to be a death, but we get to the joke immediately, usually with a little fight, sometimes about food. We try out best to make you grin in the times you are not laughing.
