'Terra Nova' takes a bow

Producers and creators for Fox's "Terra Nova" hit the jackpot on Saturday as the pilot played to a captive audience. Literally.
By 9 a.m., over 6,000 people were lined up to find a spot in Ballroom 20. Sandwiched between the final "Chuck" panel and the popular "Futurama" panel, the Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fier played to a packed house in Ballroom 20.
"Terra Nova" follows the trials of a futuristic colony who travels to the past to create a new civilization in a frontier filled with dinos, man-eating bugs and a hostile group of deserters known as the Sixers.
After screening the pilot, producers, writers and star Stephen Lang fielded questions from the audience. The panel was quick to play up its sci-fi influences, winning fans with mentions of "Star Trek," "Avatar," and of course, "Jurassic Park."
Scribe Brannon Braga, who was familiar to SDCC auds thanks so his "24" pedigree, asked for insights from the audience regarding the look and story of the show.
"It's about exploring humanity and this new hope for the future," said the writer.
The sci-fier will have a two-hour debut this fall on Fox.
