'BYZANTIUM' NABS ITS MALE LEAD
In the barrage of vamp-themed movies, "Byzantium" is taking the genre deep with Caleb Landry Jones portraying the male lead role of a teenager dying of leukemia, Variety's Justin Kroll reports exclusively. The pic currently stars Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton and is based on the Moira Buffini play. Story revolves around a mother-daughter pair of vampires who arrive in a small British town and reveal their secret to the town. Jones' character's illness forces him to struggle with his mortality, causing Saorsie Ronan's character to struggle with her own immortality. Jones was most recently seen in "X-Men: First Class" and can be seen next in "Contraband" starring Mark Wahlberg.
