We know John C. McGinley can dress down med students with the best of them -- but how's he going to fare against Tyler Perry? We'll find out, as the "Scrubs" actor is set to play Chief of Police Richard Brookwell in Summit Entertainment's "I, Alex Cross," the reboot of the James Patterson novels starring Perry, Variety's Josh L. Dickey reports exclusively. McGinley's character is a vigorous, ambitious man -- the opposite of Cross' gentle, empathetic approach to solving homicides. Shooting begins this month in Cleveland (which stands in, apparently, for the tough streets of D.C.)
