Whitaker Takes On Double Role For 'Vipaka'
Forest Whitaker will bring to life voodoo-themed “Vipaka,” producing and starring in the psychological thriller alongside Anthony Mackie, Variety's Jeff Sneider exclusively reports. Sanaa Lathan also co-stars in the pic, which follows two adversaries who go head-to-head in a game that will test each man’s belief in what they’re certain is the truth. Last seen opposite Matt Damon in “The Adjustment Bureau,” Mackie will shoot “Vipaka” before he segues to a key supporting role in crime pic “The Gangster Squad.” He just finished “Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter” and will next appear in a diverse quartet of films including Shawn Levy’s “Real Steel,” Asger Leth’s “Man on a Ledge,” Jamie Linden’s “Ten Year” and the R-rated comedy “What’s Your Number?” Whitaker also has four new pics on the horizon, as he’ll soon be seen in the indies “Catch .44” with Bruce Willis, “Freelancers” with Robert De Niro, “Mississippi Wild” with Robert Duvall and “A Single Shot” with Juno Temple.
